A fire in East Tremont early Sunday forced the evacuation of a Hughes Avenue apartment building.
Authorities say the fire started at about 6:30 a.m. and at least one family has been displaced. The blaze started on the building's third floor, authorities say.
Residents say the building is beset with problems and they feel unsafe. According to the Department of Buildings Web site, complaints filed since 1997 include electrical wiring issues. Those complaints have been listed as closed or resolved.
A probe into the fire is ongoing.
