West Point held its annual Buffalo Soldier Memorial Ceremony Sunday to honor African-American men for their service in past wars.
The Buffalo Soldiers are famous for their service in conflicts, including the Spanish-American War, WWI, WWII and the Korean conflict.
The ceremony honored the 9th and 10th Cavalry Regiments of the Buffalo Soldiers who were assigned to West Point from the early 1900s.
"They paved the way for those young officers and soldiers who are just beginning to make their mark on history, and yes - they pave the way for those generations of leaders still yet to come,” said Darryl Williams, 60th Superintendent of West Point Military Academy.
