Fires are still burning at a popular hiking destination in southern Dutchess County today.
Brush fires broke out along the Hudson River and the Dutchess Junction area Monday afternoon, and then jumped over Route 9D before making its way up the mountain and Breakneck Ridge near Cold Spring. Police say all hikers have made it off the mountain safely.
Route 9D was closed was closed for hours, but the tunnel through 9D is now open. The Metro-North Hudson Line also suffered delays while firefighters battled several fires.
Firefighters from Dutchess, Putnam and Orange counties worked throughout the night to contain the blaze and are expected to return back today.
Officials have not confirmed a cause.
