Bronx man accused of driving wrong way in New Jersey while intoxicated with 3 children in SUV

A Bronx man is facing charges after police say he drove the wrong way on Route 46 in Fairfield while allegedly intoxicated with three children in his vehicle.
Fairfield police said an officer spotted a Dodge Durango traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of Route 46 shortly after 2 a.m. Aug. 30. The officer stopped the vehicle in a nearby McDonald’s parking lot.
Police identified the driver as Miguel Nocelo-Soto, 33. Officers said three children, ages 17, 12 and 1, were in the back seat.
According to police, Nocelo-Soto had bloodshot, watery eyes and told the officer he had consumed two beers. Police said he underwent field sobriety tests before he was arrested. Multiple open beer cans were also found in the vehicle, according to police.
Nocelo-Soto was taken to the West Caldwell Police Department, where he provided breath samples. Police allege his blood alcohol concentration was above the legal limit.
He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. He also received several motor vehicle summonses, including for driving under the influence, reckless driving, having an open container and driving while intoxicated with a minor passenger.
The children were released to a family member. Police said the case was referred to the Division of Child Protection and Permanency.
Nocelo-Soto is scheduled to appear in Essex County Superior Court on Oct. 13.
