A Bronx artist is getting recognition from the Columbia Journalism Review and the media.
By day, 28-year-old Osaretin Ugiagbe is an administrative assistant at Lincoln Hospital. By night, he's a visionary artist.
Ugiagbe moved to the United States with his mother and four sisters when he was 16 years old.
He took an art class at Hostos Community College and got an award for the first thing he ever painted.
"I felt bad because the painting I was awarded for wasn't actually mine," he said. "It was something that was copied, so I said, you know what, I'm gonna see if I could actually prove myself and come up with something, you know, more Osaretin."
Ugiagbe posts photos of his paintings on his website. He says he has a close connection to his art, so selling his work isn't in the cards.
