The vehicle that moves barriers on the Tappan Zee Bridge broke down Saturday morning, leaving only one lane open and causing heavy traffic delays along I-87.
The line of vehicles slowly inching forward along the highway stretched to Connecticut, with many frustrated drivers sitting in traffic for up to an hour. Even side streets leading to the Tappan Zee Bridge were backed up.
?We're just going to Woodbury, and we can't even get over there,? says Marcos Medrano, of Manhattan. ?The day is wasted.?
The traffic jam lasted more than two hours until the barrier-moving vehicle was repaired and the second lane opened.
