The community of Bristol, Connecticut came together this weekend to support the families of the two fallen police officers and the lone surviving officer.
Three businesses hosted a fundraiser and raffle Sunday afternoon. The funds will be donated in Officer Alec Iurato’s honor to the police department’s K-9 fund.
Donations were also collected for the Hero’s Fund to benefit the families of Lt. Dustin DeMonte and Sgt. Alex Hamzy.
DeMonte, Hamzy and Iurato were shot Oct. 12 in what police believe was an ambush set up by a 911 call made by the shooter, Nicholas Brutcher. Iurato, who is a Yorktown native, survived a gunshot wound to his leg. He fired a single shot that killed Brutcher.
