Our sunsets have already been longer since March across the tri-state region.

However, there's even brighter news for all the lovers of summer, warm weather and long days.

On Thursday, May 9, there will be sunsets starting at 8 p.m., which will continue to be later through the end of June for the tri-state.

It will pave the way for the those “magical” summer nights and welcome the arrival of the summer season.  

For perspective, during the winter months, our daylight hours are typically short, especially for the winter solstice on Dec. 21, classified as the shortest day of the year, bringing only nine hours and 15 minutes to the tri-state.

In comparison, the summer solstice marks the longest day of the year, with a little over 15 hours of sunlight.
