A Bridgeport man celebrated his 100th birthday Monday at the business he's still running.

Bill Evans has run his shoe shine and repair business at People's Bank Headquarters for over 50 years and works there five days a week.

Organizer Virgilio Lopez says he organized the party, attended by over 100 people, for his friend of over 18 years.

When he's not running his business, Evans also serves as an usher at his congregation.

"Try to treat everybody like God would have me to treat people..." Evans says on his secret for longevity.

Evans had another party at his apartment complex, but saw five customers before the party at his business started.
