Board of
Legislators votes to require warning labels on firearms
The Westchester County Board of Legislators voted
unanimously on Monday to require warning labels be posted
where firearms are sold.
The labels would
warn that access to a firearm in the home increases the risk of suicide, homicide
and accidental death.
It would
also include contact information for the county's Crisis
Prevention and Response Team and the National Suicide Hotline.
The labels would
be displayed at retailers, and also be
given to people seeking gun licenses in Westchester.
