Astronomy enthusiasts across the Hudson Valley were treated to a rare sight this morning.
A total eclipse of the moon happened just before sunrise today.
The full moon was obscured by Earth's shadow in the pre-dawn hours. The moon appeared orange or red, the result of sunlight scattering off Earth's atmosphere. That's why it's called a blood moon.
There'll be two full lunar eclipses again next year.
