Bill Clinton swears in New Castle lawmakers
Former President Bill Clinton swore into office several local lawmakers in New Castle Tuesday evening at the Chappaqua Performing Arts Center.
He swore in New Castle Town Supervisor Rob Greenstein and Town Board members Lisa Katz, Ivy Pool and Noah Sorkin.
Four years ago, Hillary Clinton also officially swore in Greenstein, Katz and Sorkin, all of whom were re-elected this year.
The Clintons purchased their first home in Chappaqua, which is part of New Castle, in 1999.
"I've lived here longer than any place I've ever lived, under one roof," the former president joked, evoking applause. "I'm about to swear in three town supervisors, all of whom have not lived in Chappaqua longer than I have."
Last year, they bought a second home near their first residence.
Their Chappaqua home is only about a half-mile away from the event.
When asked about President Donald Trump's State of the Union address, which also happened Tuesday, President Clinton said he did not want to offer his opinion.
