A Hollywood star is set to join the action as some of the best players in the world get ready to tee off at the Travelers Championship in Cromwell.

Actor Will Ferrell is expected at today’s Celebrity Pro-Am as the tournament prepares to get underway Thursday at TPC River Highlands.

Ferrell, who is promoting a new golf-themed series, “The Hawk,” is scheduled to be on site with other celebrity participants.

The event, a PGA Tour Signature stop with a $20 million purse, features world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and draws thousands of fans each year.

Recently crowned U.S. Open champion Wyndham Clark is also in the field.

Other top players in the field include Cameron Young, who previously shot a sub-60 round at the event; Matt Fitzpatrick, the current FedExCup points leader; Russell Henley; Justin Rose; and defending champion Keegan Bradley.

It also generates up to $70 million in economic impact and has donated millions to local charities, including a record $4 million last year.

Milford native Ben James is among the players competing.
