Some people in Scarsdale are in shock over a disturbing letter targeting Yonkers and Mount Vernon kids at an upscale Scarsdale pre-school.
Hitchcock Weekday School administrators say an anonymous letter was sent demanding the pre-school remove three children because they are from disadvantaged backgrounds and don't live in the upper-class Westchester community. The letter goes on to call the school's director an outright disgrace and threatens to cut her term short. The note was signed ?Hitchcock Parents Association Members,? but the principal said no such organization exists.
Many residents say they are appalled by the discriminatory nature of the letter, especially that it targeted such young children. Others were reluctant to comment, saying they still have to live in the community.
