The principal of the Bedford Hills Elementary School was charged Friday with one misdemeanor count of failing to report a suspected case of child sexual abuse.
Bedford police say 46-year-old Victoria Graboski turned herself in Friday and was released on her own recognizance. Graboski and two teachers, Regina Smith and Jennifer Conte, were already placed on paid leave by the school amid allegations that they failed to report suspected abuse. Three more staff members at the school were also suspended with pay as the district investigates the case. Bedford School Superintendent Debra Jackson says teachers are clearly required by law to report any suspicions of abuse.
It?s believed the allegations against the educators stem from rape charges against 27-year-old Cesar Joel Sagastume-Morales, who is accused of raping the 9-year-old daughter of his girlfriend. However, Bedford police or school officials would not confirm the connection. Police are still searching for Morales.
