Metro-North police say the death of a woman on the train tracks in Bedford Hills Thursday night was an apparent suicide.
They say 61-year-old Marion Sanders, from Somers, was standing between the two tracks when she was hit by an oncoming train around 8:30. Metro-North police say the train?s conductor had tried to warn Somers by sounding a horn, but she did not move.
The engineer hit the emergency brakes but couldn't stop in time, authorities say. Sanders was struck and pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident briefly delayed trains on the Harlem Line.
Police are awaiting the results of the medical examiner?s report.
