Beacon woman drowns after falling into Fishkill Creek

Beacon Fire Chief Tom Lucchesi says a witness at the scene reported seeing the 42-year-old Beacon resident slip and fall down an embankment, at approximately 6:40 p.m.

Authorities say a woman drowned in the Fishkill Creek Tuesday evening following a fall while someone was taking her picture.
Beacon Fire Chief Tom Lucchesi says a witness at the scene reported seeing the 42-year-old Beacon resident slip and fall down an embankment, at approximately 6:40 p.m.
The fire official says units from his department were on scene within 60 seconds, and immediately began searching for the victim in the area of 50 Leonard St.
The woman was found unconscious and responsive down a 15-foot embankment and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Beacon police are investigating the incident.
The woman's identity is not being released at this time pending family notification.
