Ball tested and ready to drop in White Plains for NYE extravaganza
With just three days to go, preparations are underway in the Hudson Valley to help ring in the new year.
The White Plains New Year's Eve Spectacular will be held, and this year's biggest star is the ball that has been tested and is ready to be dropped.
Thousands of LED lights on the giant 8-foot diameter ball will make its way down to tens of thousands of people on Court and Main street in the heart of White Plains at midnight on New Year’s Eve.
And even though this year is expected to be a rainy one, it won't stop the revelers from coming out in droves, packing the city's streets for a celebration like no other in the county.
"We are going to have music, we're going to have entertainment and people gathering all through the region,” said Mayor Tom Roach. “We are going to have a good time in a very family focused event."
The mayor also says that there will be extra security this year as it is every year.
And for those that plan on partying into the wee hours, Heineken will once again be providing a complimentary ride home to anyone who parties a little too much.
