Bail was denied to a Scarsdale man accused of stabbing his wife to death.

A Westchester County Court judge denied bail to Julius Reich, 61, who is facing a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Dr. Robin Goldman.

Police say Reich stabbed Goldman 21 times in the shower of their multimillion-dollar home in Scarsdale. Investigators tell News 12 that after Reich stabbed Goldman, he called 911. Goldman, a mother of three and grandmother of four, was dead by the time first responders arrived.

News 12 has learned from public records that Reich filed for divorce from his wife last August and that the case was pending. It is unclear why the couple was still living in the same home. Police, so far, are not discussing a motive.

Prosecutors fought to have Reich's bail denied because they insisted he was a flight risk. They said he has access to tens of millions of dollars, private jets and yachts. They said he had no intention of standing trial.

Reich's defense attorney told the judge that his client was a gentle man with a good reputation who had deep ties to the community. He says Reich and Goldman were in the process of an amicable divorce. 

Prosecutors told a different story. They say Goldman and their children feared Reich. They say she contemplated getting an order of protection in recent weeks.

Yesterday, hundreds of mourners paid their final respects to Dr. Goldman at a service at Young Israel of Scarsdale.

Reich is due back in court on Tuesday, Jan. 26. Investigators say more charges could come.
