Westchester County's Department of Health is giving out free vaccines to children to prepare for school.
The vaccines are available at clinics in White Plains and Yonkers at select times until mid-September.
Officials are urging parents to make sure their children are vaccinated so they can start off the school year on the right foot. "Vaccines are the most important way to prevent the further spread disease,” says Westchester County Department of Health Clinic Nursing Supervisor Lori Smittel. “And also, they may have to speak with their school because the governor's new law as of June of this year has now excluded religious exemption so if children have not been vaccinated they may not be allowed in school."
