The Maria Fareri Children's Hospital on Thursday celebrated the first birthday of one of its tiniest -- and feistiest -- former patients.
Tamaya Berry weighed only 9 ounces when she was born last year.
"She could fit in the palm of my hand," said Dee Sujanthan, a registered nurse.
Doctors told Tamaya's parents she had a 20 percent chance of survival. But after spending six months in the neonatal intensive care unit, she was sent home, happy and healthy.
