Authorities say that an underwater investigation of a tugboat crash in the Hudson River has ceased indefinitely, and that their main focus is now recovering the tugboat.
The tugboat sank after crashing into a barge Saturday afternoon.
The bodies of two crew members, Captain Paul Amon, 62, of New Jersey, and 29-year-old Tim Conklin, of Westbury, Long Island, were pulled from the Hudson River. The Medical Examiner's Office says both crew members drowned.
The body of 56-year-old crew member Harry Hernandez, of Staten Island, has not been found. He is presumed dead.
Authorities say reports of Amon surviving the crash only to lose his life attempting to save his crew are unfounded, although more than a dozen interviews still need to be completed.
Investigators are trying to determine why the boat sank and say that getting the tugboat out of the water is one of their main concerns. They say it could take a week to pull the tugboat out to the water.
