New video released by police in Utah Thursday night shows Gabby Petito speaking with officers in the back of a police car during a traffic stop on Aug. 12.
In the video, Petito talks about the physical altercation with her fiancé, Brian Laundrie.
Police released the footage hours after News 12 learned new details about how police in Florida handled the investigation after Gabby’s family tried to report her missing.
Gabby had not been heard from since late August. Her family’s attorney says on Sept. 10, relatives called North Port police multiple times, begging them to send officers to Laundrie’s house.
In a text message to News 12, department spokesperson Joshua Taylor says they did not respond that day.
Taylor writes, "Gabby's family called. They mentioned the address. She was not in North Port. She had not been in North Port for months."
In reality, Gabby had been living there until the start of their trip together.
Gabby’s mother, Nicole Schmidt, says she was frustrated by the lack of help she received from North Port police.
“We called them first obviously, because that's where Gabby was living, and they didn't want anything to do with it,” says Schmidt.
The FBI returned to Brian Laundrie’s Florida home Thursday afternoon to collect some of his personal items to help the K-9s track Laundrie’s scent, according to a family attorney.
Reality television star Dog the Bounty Hunter continued the search for Laundrie near the Fort De Soto Park where the family had reserved a site earlier in September.
The celebrity bounty hunter’s daughter, Lyssa, tweeted, "Today we will process evidence, and intelligence. (Sharing all of such with law enforcement). The hunt continues."
