Westchester County Executive-elect Rob Astorino began the transition process Wednesday morning after defeating incumbent Andy Spano 57-43.
Only hours after scoring a landslide victory over his Democratic opponent, Astorino rejected the notion that his win was the result of an anti-incumbency tide sweeping through the tri-state area.
"People expect good, honest government," he says. "They expect reasonable taxes."
Astorino admits that in order to reduce Westchester's property taxes, he may have to slash the county budget by as much as 10 percent across the board.
During Spano's concession speech Tuesday night, the former executive pleaded with his successor to tread lightly when it comes to making cuts.
