Republican gubernatorial candidate Rob Astorino is criticizing Gov. Andrew Cuomo's decision to loosen Ebola quarantine restrictions for private citizens returning from West Africa and medical professionals who have treated Ebola patients.
Cuomo has said that health care workers who were exposed to Ebola patients in West Africa should have a 21-day quarantine at home.
Astorino rejected Cuomo's more lenient new guidelines, saying he has a better idea for protecting New Yorkers.
"I said on Oct. 7 that we should have a total flight and passenger ban into JFK for a period of 21 days," he said. "They should be quarantined for 21 days in Africa, so that we are aware that they don't have it. They can be treated there."
When asked about his chances of being able to claim a gubernatorial victory on Nov. 4, a confident Astorino says he's done it before, and can do it again.
