Assault on Putnam County Trailway prompts new safety protocols

Police say a jogger was assaulted last weekend by a man later identified as 30-year-old James Regan.

Community leaders are seeking to improve safety standards in wake of an assault that occurred on the Putnam County Trailway.

Police say a jogger was assaulted last weekend by a man later identified as 30-year-old James Regan.

County officials plan to add additional cameras and lighting to the area. More patrols will also be added.

Officials say illegal campsites are in the process of being cleared. Outreach teams are working to get homeless people out of the area.
