An arrest has been made in the hit-and-run crash that killed a former Greenburgh town employee over the weekend, police say.
Police responded to a call Saturday morning and found Stephanie Kavourias, of Hartsdale, had been struck and killed by a car while walking on East Hartsdale Avenue.
They say the driver of the car left the scene. First responders rushed Kavourias to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Police later arrested 42-year-old Antonio Robles Sanchez in connection to the hit-and-run.
Sanchez is facing multiple charges including vehicular manslaughter, operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs and driving while intoxicated. Police say he is a fugitive from justice.
Greenburgh town officials released a statement saying Kavourias was the former manager of the Hartsdale Parking Authority and a former member of the Greenburgh Planning Board.
Town officials say the death of Kavourias is an enormous loss to the community, calling her a prominent leader and dedicated employee.
Robles was arraigned and is now behind bars in Westchester County Jail.
