A driver is in serious condition in the hospital today after hit-and-run driver injured him last night in Montebello.
Police say the two-car, head-on crash happened around 1 a.m. on Route 202 by the intersection of Viola Road.
The male driver of a Cadillac was pinned inside his vehicle and was rushed to Good Samaritan Hospital.
According to police, Jonathan Elwell, 33, of Suffern, the driver of the Mercedes Benz, fled the scene on foot. Elwell was later apprehended a short distance from the scene. He was also transported to the hospital by Spring Hill Ambulance. He was arrested for charges including leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, vehicular assault, and DWI.
