A home invasion terrified a couple in Orangeburg overnight.
Police say that a man and a woman were in their apartment above the Cloverleaf Inn and Restaurant on Western Highway when two men knocked on the door and forced their way inside at around 2 a.m. One of the suspects was allegedly armed with a handgun.
Police say they punched the man in the head, flashed their gun and then demanded "the stuff."
The woman locked herself in the bathroom and then climbed out the window onto a nearby porch roof. Police say she jumped off the roof, ran to safety and then called police. The suspects fled the apartment empty-handed.
There is no word if the couple was targeted or what the suspects were looking for.
Landlord Rich Miller says he's concerned because the armed invasion has left the rest of his tenants frightened and fearing for their own safety. He says he has started preparing to beef up security in the building so that something like this doesn't happen again.
Orangeburg police are asking anyone with leads on this case to give them a call.
