Yorktown police are asking for the public's help to find those responsible for spray-painting antisemitic, racist and homophobic symbols at the Patriot Skate Park and the Jack DeVito Veteran's Memorial Track and Field.
Skateboarders who regularly visit the skate park were shocked by what they saw on their latest visit.
"This park has been spray-painted before, but never like this and it's disgusting, especially since I see kids here every time I come," said Noah Anderson, of Yorktown.
Police believe the vandalism happened Saturday evening, but wasn't discovered until passersby saw the disturbing words and images on Sunday morning.
Longtime Yorktown resident Christy Paluck called the vandalism "heartbreaking."
"I don't like racial prejudice, I never have. Even as a child it hurt me, so I hate to hear that this is going on," said Paluck.
Yorktown Police Chief Robert Noble says the vandalism investigation is ongoing, and that there is no place in Yorktown for such "vile, ignorant and hateful graffiti."
"As a police department we're disgusted by this behavior. We'd like nothing better that to apprehend those responsible," he said.
