STORM WATCH: Rain, intense wind and coastal flooding arrive this weekend

Plan for significant weather impacts from a nearby nor'easter Sunday into Monday after a decent end to the week.

While the focus of our local Long Island weather is on a coastal storm arriving Sunday and into Monday, there is still some weather you can enjoy before that storm arrives. The decent weather will last for another couple of days and will also allow you to plan for the late-weekend storm’s arrival.
Here are some things you can start thinking about now:
A high wind watch is already posted for all of Long Island for Sunday into Monday due to the chance of wind gusts up to around 60 mph. That can easily lead to power outages.
Here is the latest on what the storm will bring to Nassau and Suffolk Counties:
We do need the rain, but it would be nice to get it without all of the other nor'easter impacts! A large portion of Suffolk County is officially in a moderate drought as of today's drought monitor update.

FORECAST: OVERNIGHT: Mostly clear and colder. Grab a winter coat overnight and through Friday morning. Patchy frost is possible in and around the Pine Barrens of Suffolk County. Lows near 40 degrees with some scattered 30s, especially in Suffolk County. FRIDAY: Chilly in the morning. Mostly sunny and not as breezy, but still cool with highs around 63 degrees. Lows near 50 degrees. SATURDAY: Becoming mainly cloudy. A spotty shower cannot completely be ruled out. Highs around 68 degrees. Lows near 56 degrees.
SUNDAY: STORM WATCH — Cloudy with periods of moderate to heavy rain along with strong wind and coastal flooding. Highs around 65 degrees. Lows near 54 degrees.
MONDAY: STORM WATCH - Cloudy with periods of lingering rain, coastal flooding and wind. Highs around 64 degrees. Lows near 53 degrees.
TUESDAY: Partly sunny with a shower chance. Highs around 66 degrees. Lows near 53 degrees.
WEDNESDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 68 degrees. Lows near 49 degrees.
THURSDAY: Sun and clouds. Highs around 62 degrees. Lows near 49 degrees.
