A nonprofit organization based in Amenia
is hoping for support through donations.
The mission of
the Animal Farm Foundation is to bring dogs and people together to end
discrimination.
Its service dog program trains former shelter pit bulls to
assist people with disabilities. Another program the nonprofit offers is its
farm sanctuary. This program cares for rescued
retired cows, horses and other animals.
News 12 is told
the Animal Farm Foundation’s hope is to teach people about what they believe is
the cruelty in factory farming.
“I want
everyone to know that we are a solid investment,” says executive director
Stacey Coleman. “One of the things that are so important to us is that we do
things in a way that’s really financially responsible.”
Coleman also
says much of the organization’s funds go directly into programs. “We’re not ad happy like so many other places. We
don’t have a lot of overhead.”
Pets Together,
a virtual animal program, that helps with isolation and loneliness due to the
pandemic is also an option at this facility.
