An alleged victim of child sexual abuse filed a lawsuit against a youth football team and baseball league in Rockland.

The alleged victim, Edward Crotty, says from 1970 to 1973, the Midget Mounties football program and the Suffern Little League allowed coach Joseph Nappo to sexually abuse him when he was 11 years old.

Crotty says he tried filing a lawsuit in the 1990s but, because of the statute of limitations law at the time, he couldn't follow through. His attorney, Samantha Breakstone, says he is now able to get closure after the Child Victims Act opened the window for victims to file lawsuits.

"He was abused as a child by a Suffern community figure who coached for little league, coached for Pop Warner Football and coached for a lot of the other sports around the town," says Breakstone. "He was sexually abused by this individual and his brother as well."

News 12 reached out to the still-active Midget Mounties program. They say they have no knowledge of the incident and do not condone or tolerate any inappropriate actions towards children.
