An Orange County community is mourning the loss of one of their neighbors tonight – after she died overnight in a house fire.
Neighbors knew the woman who lived at 38 Sylvan Trail as “Annie.”
“We are a tightknit community up here,” said Lori Cloonen. “It’s really sad.”
They say Annie tragically died early Monday morning – when her rental home on Sylvan Trail, in the Mountain Lodge section of Blooming Grove, caught fire.
“As a community, we all feel the pain,” said Cloonen.
Neighbors say they were sleeping and woke up to frantic calls from other neighbors about the fire and what sounded like propane tanks exploding behind the house.
Authorities have not yet said what caused the fire. They’ve also not identified the victim, who neighbors say was in her 50s or 60s.
People who live nearby say their hearts dropped when they saw the house on fire and found out the woman died.
Their thoughts now turn to her family.
“They have our deepest condolences. It’s a shame,” said a neighbor.
The house appears to be destroyed.
Police remained on the block until late afternoon, and crime scene tape sectioned off the house from people passing by.
Blooming Grove police have not responded to calls for information.
