As travelers are hitting the airports, train stations and roadways, issues like personal safety and terrorism are at the top of many minds following the Paris terror attacks.

On Monday, the U.S. State Department issued a rare worldwide travel alert for U.S. citizens amid several terror-related threats overseas. Officials fear that the Islamic State group could pull off more attacks, so the State Department is cautioning all citizens to remain cautious in public places or when using public transportation.

Hudson Valley travelers say they aren't changing their holiday plans, but are keeping their eyes and ears open. "It's always there. It's always in the back of your mind. You are always looking and watching," says travel agent Jane LeCort.

The FBI and Homeland Security also released a bulletin to local police departments to be on heightened alert. Security has been bolstered at both the Westchester County Airport and Stewart International Airport. Officials are warning the public to allow extra time because of the increased security.
