Mother’s Day brought families together across the Hudson Valley on Sunday, with packed brunch tables and heartfelt moments at restaurants like Half Moon in Dobbs Ferry.

Families gathered to celebrate the mothers, grandmothers, and mothers-to-be in their lives — sharing meals, laughter, and quality time on one of the busiest restaurant days of the year.

“It’s one of the biggest blessings in life, and I wouldn’t give it up for anything in the world,” said Lauren Russo, of Westchester County. “I love my kids and every day they make me happy. And I’m the luckiest mom ever.”

For some families, the day was about creating memories across generations.

“Being with my children and my grandchildren together,” said Rina, of Yonkers, describing what made the holiday meaningful.

Danicia, of Harrison, a mother and mother-to-be, summed up motherhood with a laugh, first calling it “tired” before adding that it is also “really warm and full of love” and an opportunity to celebrate with loved ones.

Many moms said the simple gestures mattered most — from homemade cards to breakfast in bed and hearing the words, “Happy Mother’s Day.”

Staff at Half Moon said Mother’s Day is their busiest day of the year, welcoming families celebrating every stage of motherhood, from expecting mothers to grandmothers.

For many, the best gift of all was simply spending time together.
