Activists gather outside Sen. Schumer’s office on eve of impeachment vote
On the eve of President Donald Trump’s impeachment vote, activists rallied outside of Sen. Chuck Schumer's Peekskill office.
People from all over the Hudson Valley gathered there to urge Congress to uphold the Constitution and impeach President Trump.
They say he proved he was a threat to the nation's democracy when he abused his power in office by pressuring Ukraine to investigate former Vice President Joe Biden and his son ahead of the 2020 election - and obstructed Congress by trying to block witnesses and information from their investigation.
People at the rally told News 12 they are frustrated with Republicans for defending the president to no end. His supporters argue he has not committed an impeachable offense, that this is a modern day witch hunt and a total waste of time.
It's expected Congress will vote in favor of impeachment Wednesday.
Protestors say they are optimistic Wednesday’s vote will end the way they want, but they plan on pushing just as hard as their Republican counterparts when the case heads to the Senate next month.
