Travel during the Thanksgiving holiday is expected to be one of the busiest in years.
AAA says it is projecting next week will be the third busiest year for Thanksgiving travel since 2000.
AAA expects 54.6 million people will travel 50 miles or more - near pre-pandemic levels.
Travel from bus, train, or cruise ship has skyrocketed - up 23% over last year.
If you're flying out and haven't booked your trip yet, a AAA travel expert says Sunday will be the most expensive day to fly out and that Thanksgiving morning is your best choice. "Book the first flight of the day. Book that 6 a.m. or 6:30 a.m. flight. They are usually never delayed or canceled. If you're driving, the day before Thanksgiving, especially after 5 p.m. is when traffic will be busiest," says Robert Sinclair Jr., senior manager of public affairs for AAA Northeast.
