A vigil is being held for a woman who was stabbed to death inside her Bedford Park apartment last week.
Family and friends of Monica Akua say they are heartbroken, calling her a true light for the entire community.
Police found the 52-year-old woman stabbed to death inside Tracey Towers last Thursday and her husband has since been charged with her murder.
The vigil was coordinated by Warm NYC, a domestic violence organization. They passed out educational pamphlets to neighbors warning them about the signs of domestic violence.
Akua was from Ghana and lived in New York for more than two decades.
News 12’s Faith Graham was at the vigil with more.
