7 Gorton High School students miss Algebra II Regents due to scheduling mix-up

The school’s communications director said in a statement that the district is “actively addressing this issue and have been in contact with the affected families to offer support.”

A scheduling mix-up left seven Gorton High School students unable to take the Algebra II Regents exam.
According to the schedule the students received, the test was scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Monday. When they arrived, they learned the test was administered at 9:30 a.m.
The school’s communications director said in a statement that the district is “actively addressing this issue and have been in contact with the affected families to offer support.”
According to the statement:
“These students will have the opportunity to retake the exam in August with the full a complement of District resources to provide optional Regents review. The success of our students remains at the forefront of our mission and we have implemented safeguards to prevent this from happening in the future.”
