6 districts enroll in Rockland school safety initiative to catch drivers illegally speeding past buses

Six districts in Rockland have joined an initiative to use cameras to catch drivers who illegally speed past school buses.
The County’s school bus safety program partnered with the company Bus Patrol to add stop arm cameras to school buses for free.
The cameras are being installed on buses in Pearl River, Nanuet, North Rockland, Clarkstown, Suffern and Nyack.
South Orangetown, BOCES and East Ramapo districts have not opted in.
Drivers caught illegally passing buses will face fines of up to $300, according to authorities.
