Fifty-seven thousand gallons of sewage spilled into the Croton River Wednesday, according to Westchester County officials.
They say debris and dirt blocked a sewage line, causing a spill at the Crotonville pump station in Ossining.
Village officials in nearby Croton-on-Hudson say they weren’t informed of the spill until a day later.
News 12 visited one of the affected areas and found residents swimming in the river who said weren't aware of the spill.
The Westchester County Health department says there is no impact on the Croton River as of Thursday.
News 12 has learned that river water near Mayo's Landing and the Echo Canoe Boat Launch were potentially impacted.
