A police chase ended Wednesday with five people being arrested, a loaded handgun being seized, and two stolen cars being recovered.
Greenwich police notified the Westchester-Putnam Real Time Crime Center around 9:30 a.m. that they were seeking two vehicles in connection with the attempted theft of a car in their community. The suspect vehicles – a Dodge Durango and a Mercedes G Wagon -- were last seen getting on I-684 southbound.
County police located the vehicles on the Hutchinson River Parkway and followed them to the Cross County Parkway. Three of the suspects jumped out of the vehicles on a ramp to Yonkers Avenue. They were apprehended by officers after a foot pursuit.
Further investigation on scene led to the recovery of a loaded firearm and the discovery that one of the vehicles was just stolen in the Town of Lewisboro unbeknownst to its owner. The other vehicle had been previously reported stolen in New Jersey.
Khalyl Harley, 23, of East Orange, N.J., and Aliyah Richardson, 20, of Newark, N.J., were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree, both felonies.
Darren Troupe Jr., 30, of East Orange, N.J., Taliah Durham, 20, of Newark, N.J., and Lillian Strickland, 30, of Bloomfield, N.J., were charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the second degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the third degree, both felonies.
All were booked at County Police headquarters in Hawthorne and held pending arraignment in Yonkers City Court.
