Four Republican candidates for governor of Connecticut faced off in a debate Monday night, the first since the state convention.

The debate took place at the Shubert Theater in New Haven, where GOP nominee Mark Boughton faced off against former Trumbull First Selectman Tim Herbst and Navy veteran Steve Obsitnik in front of an audience of hundreds of realtors.

Also in attendance was Fairfield County businessman David Stemerman, who is currently not on the ballot but is hoping to petition his way on.

All four participants said they would want President Donald Trump to campaign for them, though with varying degrees of enthusiasm.

The candidates also touched on the topics of tolls, with Boughton notably saying he would tie himself to a light pole on Interstate 84 before allowing tolls in Connecticut.
