Police say a man was shot during a chase by an officer who was investigating a double shooting.
The first incident started at Kosciusko and Broadway streets. Officers found two men injured by gunshots around 9:30 p.m.
Authorities say both men were taken to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. Officers arrested an armed man who they believed might be a suspect.
The second shooting took place a few blocks away at Patchen Avenue and Van Buren Street. Patrolling officers say they saw a man who they believed might be involved and began to chase him. They say the man reached for his waist and turned toward the officers, and that's when one of the officers fired a gunshot that hit the man in the leg.
No charges have been filed in these cases so far.
Anyone with information on either shooting is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
