Three candidates made their final appeals Monday in the race for Mount Vernon mayor.
Democrat Richard Thomas told News 12 Monday that if elected, he will give residents safer, cleaner streets, as well as a better relationship with their city.
The city councilman pulled off a big upset in the Democratic primary, taking the party line away from incumbent Mayor Ernie Davis.
Other candidates include City Councilmember Deborah Reynolds, who is running on the Conservative Party line, and New York State Sen. Ruth Hassel Thompson, who is running on the Working Families Party line.
Both candidates were unable to meet with News 12 Monday.
