The three suspects in an armed White Plains home invasion will remain in jail after the judge set their bail Friday.
According to police, Juan Polanco and Carlos Mercado entered the Sanchez family?s Coolidge Avenue home armed with two loaded .45-caliber handguns. Police say they ushered the family into one room at gunpoint and demanded cash. The Sanchez family is in the ATM business and police say the suspects figured they had large amounts of cash in the home.
The Sanchez?s daughter locked herself in a bathroom and called 911. Polanco and Mercado were arrested while fleeing the scene, police say. Leoncio Sosa, the accused getaway driver, turned himself in to authorities a day later. Judge set bail for Polanco at $500,000 due to a prior arrest. Bail for Mercado and Sosa was set at $350,000. All three men are charged with first-degree burglary. Polanco and Mercado are also charged with criminal possession of a weapon. They are due back in court next week.
