A young mother is dead and a 34-year-old man is in the hospital after a car crash on Pelham Parkway.
According to police, 26-year-old Perla Reyes was riding in a 2004 Honda Sedan when it overturned near Fish Avenue at around 11:30 p.m. Monday, hitting an unoccupied parked car and a tree.
Loved ones identify the driver as Reyes' boyfriend, Claude Bloncourt, and say he borrowed the vehicle from a friend for the night.

Authorities believe that speed was a factor in the crash. The victim's older brother, Joel Reyes, says they may have been going as fast as 100 mph.
Reyes leaves behind a 5-year-old daughter. The driver, who is not the child's father, suffered injuries to his head and torso, but is in stable condition at Jacobi Medical Center.
