A former assistant professor at Farmingdale State College is accused of raping a student on campus earlier this month, according to court documents.
On Oct. 15, around 2:45 p.m., Antoine Munfakh, 44, is accused of sexually abusing, groping and using the lanyard around the female victim's neck to choke her in Parking Lot 6, according to the felony complaint.
"Farmingdale State College takes all matters involving the health, safety, and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff with the utmost seriousness," a Farmingdale State College spokesperson told News 12. "We are thankful for the partnership of the Suffolk County Police Department, who immediately alerted Farmingdale State College (FSC) University Police upon receiving the 911 call. FSC University Police swiftly responded to assist our student and provide immediate care."
Police charged Munfakh with third-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on Oct. 16 and has since posted bail.
The judge also issued a temporary order of protection, according to online court records.
News 12 reached out to Munfakh's attorney this morning and is waiting to hear back.
Munfakh worked at the college until June 2025.
College officials said they've been in touch with the victim and have made all campus mental health and support resources available to her.
Munfakh is scheduled to be back in court on Nov. 4.
