A 15-year-old boy is facing murder and attempted murder charges for shooting at a group of people in Yonkers.

Eight shots were fired near Elm Street and Palisade Avenue on Sunday night, according to prosecutors.

A 20-year-old man died after sustaining a wound to his back. Two 15-year-old boys, a 16-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl remain in critical but stable condition.

Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano says this is the city’s first homicide in nearly a year.

"One murder is too many, right? And we have a mom or dad, a family that is grieving the loss of a 20-year-old because some 15-year-old got his hands on a gun," he said.

The suspect was arraigned on Monday. He is being held at a Juvenile Detention Center in Valhalla and is expected to return to court Friday.
